Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance

TryViet is operated by a Swedish company, and we are responsible for handling your personal data with the utmost confidentiality in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Below we explain how we collect, use, and protect your information:

1. Data Controller

TryViet (Org.nr: 8000625-0818) is the Data Controller responsible for the personal data collected and processed through our services.

2. Data Collection

Through our website and booking process, we only collect non-sensitive personal data necessary to administer your request and fulfill the contract: name, email address, phone number (for WhatsApp communication), and scheduled arrival and departure dates.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Processing of your data is based on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a Contract (Article 6.1.b GDPR): To deliver the ordered service.
  • Legal Obligation (Article 6.1.c GDPR): To comply with statutory requirements under the Swedish Bookkeeping Act.

4. Data Retention

  • General booking data is retained for 12 months after your stay has concluded, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
  • Financial transaction data is retained for 7 years after the end of the fiscal year in accordance with the Swedish Bookkeeping Act.

5. Payment Information via Stripe

All card payments and financial transactions are securely processed via our encrypted payment partner, Stripe. TryViet neither sees, handles, nor stores your card or bank details on our own servers.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies in accordance with the Electronic Communications Act for necessary functions, such as saving your consent preferences and securely processing payments via Stripe.

7. Transfer to a Third Country (Vietnam)

As Vietnam is located outside the EU/EEA, it is classified as a "third country" under the GDPR. To perform the services you have ordered (e.g., airport transfers and coordinating apartment viewings), we must share limited information (name, phone number, and arrival time) with our local partners and drivers in Vietnam. By accepting these terms and booking the service, you explicitly consent to this necessary transfer of data to fulfill the contract (in accordance with Article 49.1.b GDPR).

8. Handling of Sensitive Data (Passports & Visas)

Under Vietnamese law, landlords and hotels must register all foreign guests with the local police upon arrival.

  • No Web Storage: TryViet never collects, requests, or stores passport copies or visa documents on our web servers.
  • Secure Transfer: When a copy of your passport is required for on-site police registration, we ask you to send it directly via an encrypted channel (such as WhatsApp).
  • Immediate Deletion: As soon as your passport details have been transferred to the landlord or local authorities for mandatory registration, the images and documents are immediately and permanently deleted from our local devices and chat histories.

9. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you free of charge, have incorrect data rectified, and request that we delete your data ("the right to be forgotten"). Contact us at support@tryviet.com.

10. Complaints to the Supervisory Authority

If you believe we are handling your personal data incorrectly or in breach of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten - IMY) in Sweden.
